Search Under Way For Burglary Suspects Who Shot At Deputies

Closed Areas Reopened; Suspects Remain At Large

Authorities in Douglas County are looking for two men who fired at sheriff's deputies.

Deputies tried to stop the men early Saturday after getting a report of a burglary in a Castle Rock subdivision. The sheriff's office said the suspects fled in their vehicle and shot at deputies, hitting their cars.

One deputy suffered shrapnel injuries to his arm and was treated and then released from a hospital.

The gunmen got out of their car and ran into a wooded area. Nearby residents were warned to stay in their homes, lock their doors and windows.

After several hours of searching, deputies found no sign of the men.

They scaled down their search Saturday afternoon and reopened closed streets.

The two suspects were said to be white males in their early 20s.

Authorities said the two men should be considered armed and dangerous.
