COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- An e-mail released by a purported friend of ousted pastor Ted Haggard alleges the former leader of New Life Church admitted having sexual contact with and buying drugs from a male escort. In the October 2007 e-mail obtained by KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs, Haggard purportedly admits that he bought drugs from masseuse Mike Jones and that he allowed Jones to masturbate him after a massage. The e-mail was released by Kurt Serpe.""During the conversation with Mike during and after the time he masturbated me, he told me about some drugs that he could get for me that would enhance my masturbation experience," the e-mail states. "I actually used them three times, throwing them away in shame before use two times. It is for these offenses that I confessed being immoral and deceitful"
Haggard was the pastor of the New Life mega-church in Colorado Springs at the time."He craved sex, he was a sexaholic," Serpe said. He asked for an explanation of what happened but not tell Haggard he was going public with the e-mail response. A phone number listed for Haggard in Colorado Springs was disconnected. Haggard was forced out of the 14,000-member church after the scandal broke in 2006. Haggard had established the church. Haggard also resigned as president of the National Association of Evangelicals after he confessed to undisclosed "sexual immorality." Haggard left Colorado Springs to begin what church leaders called "a spiritual restoration program" in Phoenix. He has since returned to Colorado Springs. The new leader of New Life Church, pastor Brady Boyd, said Haggard asked to be released from the restoration program in January and is no longer connected with the Colorado Springs church. Serpe told the television station he wanted to share the e-mail because he "felt the truth needed to be told." In the e-mail Serpe said is written by Haggard, the former pastor said he bought drugs from Jones five times, but didn't specify what kind of drugs. He said he used the drugs three times. Haggard has said in the past he bought methamphetamine from Jones but didn't use it. Serpe said Haggard told him in the e-mail that the time he allowed Jones to masturbate him was the only sexual contact he ever had with the escort and it was the reason that he confessed to immorality.Serpe told the television station that he is a close family friend of the Haggard family.
