Denver police are investigating the discovery of a man's body in the South Platte River.

The corpse was discovered just before 8 a.m. near 15th Street and Little Raven, in the Commons Park area, by the REI store.

Police said a passerby discovered the body at about 7:30 a.m. and notified authorities.

A fire department spokesman said it appeared the man's body had been in the water for some time.

Investigators said no foul play is suspected. The coroner will have to determine his cause of death.
