Cyclist Killed After Being Hit By Dump Truck

DENVER -- A bicyclist was struck by a dump truck while crossing onto North Foothills Highway from Broadway Street Saturday, state troopers said.A Pioneer Dump Truck was traveling north on the highway when the 55-year-old cyclist tried to merge and struck the truck, the patrol said."(The dump truck driver) said that he saw the bicyclist merging onto traffic and for some unknown reason the bicyclist just kept coming over toward the dump truck," said Sgt. C.J. Chataignier.
Chataignier said the truck dragged the victim, Michael McCutcheon, of Lafayette, several feetl.The cyclist was taken to Boulder Community Hospital where he died said Trooper Gilbert Mares of the Colorado State Patrol.Shortly after the incident another cyclist was hit near 55th & Nelson in Boulder. Authorities said a limo struck a woman who sustained injuries but survived.
