UPDATED: 1:46 pm MDT June 10, 2008

Denver police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian just before dawn Tuesday in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Police found a man lying in the street at East 20th Avenue and Logan Street at about 4:45 a.m. The victim was taken by ambulance to Denver Health Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a 2000 to 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. It will have damage around the left front bumper.

The plastic left-front wheel liner and plastic under carriage motor cover, which covers the motor from the front bumper to the firewall, was left at the scene and would be missing from the vehicle.

Anyone with information concerning the crime or who may know the location of the suspected vehicle should call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
