ARVADA, Colo. -- One of two men suspected of robbing a store while wearing women's thongs to cover part of their faces has been arrested.Video played by media outlets of the Arvada Diamond Shamrock gas station robbery on May 16, led to the arrest of Joseph R. Espinoza.Espinoza turned himself in to Arvada police late Wednesday afternoon after learning police wanted to question him about his role in the robbery. Espinoza is being charged with investigation of kidnapping and robbery. Police said he was wearing the blue thong.
Two Hispanic men entered the station just before 5 a.m. They wore thin, brightly colored, triangular-shaped underwear over their faces and demanded cash from the female clerk, police said.They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. They were not armed during the robbery.Arvada police continue to look for the suspected second bandit, Joaquin Rico, described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He lives in the area of Edgewater and frequents the Sloans Lake area. Rico has a felony theft warrant for his arrest issued by Wheat Ridge police.The gas station that was hit is located at Wadsworth Boulevard and West 68th Avenue.Anyone with more information about the masked bandits is asked to call Arvada police at 720-898-6728.
