DENVER -- A former Colorado state trooper has entered a guilty plea to sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
Gary Born, 48 (pictured, left), admitted Thursday that he improperly touched a female family member.
The victim said the encounters began when she was 8 years old and continued at least seven times.
As part of a plea bargain, a second sexual assault charge against Born was dismissed.
Born will be sentenced Oct. 9 and his family asked that he be given probation. He is currently in a sex offender treatment program.
Born was suspended from the State Patrol when the charges were filed in March. He had been a trooper since 1991. Born subsequently resigned from the force.
