Man Suspected In Four Missing Persons Cases

FBI Needs Public To Identify 4 Women

The FBI is looking at the possibility that four missing adults were murdered.

They all had one link: They all knew Scott Lee Kimball.

Kimball is currently sitting in the Jefferson County Jail on a weapons charge. Lafayette police also have several theft charges pending against him.

But Kimball's biggest worry may be what the federal agents think about him, even though they are loathe to discuss him.

"But I can tell you that we are conducting it as a kidnapping investigation," said James Davis, special agent in charge of the Denver division of the FBI.

In a search warrant affidavit released Friday, the FBI makes a case that Kimball could be a suspect in various crimes, including kidnapping, murder for hire, and federal witness tampering.

The FBI requested and got permission to inspect Kimball's Toshiba laptop computer, which had been located in a forensic lab in Littleton.

The missing include:

  • Leann Emry 24, of Aurora. She was last seen near Moab, Utah, on Jan. 30, 2003.
  • Kaysi McLeod, 19, of Lafayette. She was last seen Aug. 23, 2003.
  • Jennifer Marcum, 25, of Denver. She was last seen Feb. 17, 2003.
  • Terry Kimball, 60, who was from Georgia but may have been living with Scott Kimball in Colorado shortly before he vanished on Sept. 1, 2004.

"There are no leads that are uncovered because of a lack of resources. And we will put as many people on this as it takes to resolve it," Davis said.

On Friday, the FBI released pictures of four women they want to know more about.

The FBI doesn't know who they are, if they are alive and where their pictures were taken.

The FBI would only say that the pictures have surfaced as part of the Kimball investigation.

"I think it's possible people might be able to recognize where those photographs were taken. That would certainly be helpful to us as well," Davis said. "We have no information at all that tells us anything about those women being victims. We just think that it's likely that they can provide us with helpful information in the investigation."

One of the women -- Jennifer Marcum -- proves to be the key element in the affidavit. She was a dancer at Shotgun Willie's in early 2003.

After she disappeared, her family put up a billboard above the popular strip club hoping to help the investigation.

In the search warrant affidavit, FBI agent Jonathan Grusing taped a phone conversation between Kimball and another man, with that man's permission.

"Kimball made analogies to Marcum being a stone in a pyramid which could make the pyramid fall," Grusing wrote in the affidavit.

Marcum was dating Kimball, according to witness statements made to Grusing.

She was also a possible witness in a methamphetamine investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration into her former beau, Steven Ennis.

Kimball does not face any federal kidnapping charges but is under investigation for several felony theft charges in Lafayette.
