Police Accuse Sex Offenders Of Repeat Offenses

DENVER -- Colorado Springs Police arrested two registered sex offenders in seperate cases Thursday; one for alleged sexual exploitation of children and another for Internet luring of a child.Richard J Conti, 47, was arrested after a joint investigation with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.Conti was found to have allegedly purchased sexually exploitative images and videos of children off the Internet, said Lt. Skim Arms of the Colorado Springs Police Department.
He was arrested without incident and is being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, Arms said.Conti was ordered to register as a sex offender from a conviction back in 2004.The other man, Benjamin C. Strivling, 25, was arrested after a joint operation with the Washington Attorney Generals Office, Arms said.Strivling allegedly engaged in explicit conduct via the Internet with a 12-year-old from Washington, police said.He is currently on probation for sex offenses and extortion, Arms said.Strivling is being held in the justice center on a Washington warrant and a $200,000 bond.
