A box of old dynamite was found in a shed Thursday that belonged to a 96-year-old Boulder woman who died last week.

A local attorney, Richard Lopez, found a box marked "High Explosives" while assessing the woman's estate on Lefthand Canyon Drive, said Phil West, spokesman for the Boulder Fire Department.

Lopez said that the woman, Francis Clark, had told him that she had dynamite on the property, West said.

There is a mineshaft on the property, West said, but Lopez said he was unaware of it having been worked on or why Clark had the dynamite.

Sheriffs deputies found the wooden crate in the shed that was marked as containing 50 pounds of dynamite. The bomb squad was called to remove the crate and will dispose of it.
