BOULDER, Colo. -- A Boulder man police accuse of stabbing his wife pleaded guilty to murder Friday.Alfred Michael Strauss accepted a plead deal with prosecutors in the slaying of Laura Swan, 36, reported the Daily Camera.Police said Strauss, 46, stabbed his ex-wife last August at the couple's home on 18th Street in Boulder. He could face 18 to 32 years in prison, said Strauss' lawyer, Pamela Mackey.
Strauss, whose birthday was Friday, did not speak in court beyond answering the judge's questions. He told police he acted in self-defense. Investigators said Strauss twice stabbed Swan from behind. Friends and family of Laura Swan said they would like a stiff penalty for Strauss but said they were happy the case would not go to trial. After Strauss' guilty plea, Jonna Needle, a friend of Swan, told the Camera it was "nice to have that vindication and it was nice to hear it from his own mouth."
