CORTEZ, Colo. -- Earlier this week Montezuma County investigators found dismembered body parts in several places across the county, some encased in concrete, and now they've arrested the son of a missing man.Jeremiah Raymond Berry, 20, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, said Sheriff Gerald Wallace.Berry's father, 42-year-old Jack Berry, has not been seen for a couple months, relatives said. Investigators have not determined whether the dismembered body is the elder Berry but said the body parts belong to a man.
The investigation began Monday after the Arizona Department of Public Safety relayed a missing-person report about Jack Berry to Colorado officials.Searchers looking for him found two large buckets of hardened concrete, which were then run through a hospital CT scan machine. The scan revealed body parts inside. The concrete was found Tuesday hidden in three different locations in Montezuma County, the sheriff's office said. One of the places where parts were found was on property belonging to Rita Renee Berry, according to the Cortez Journal.Wallace said the search is continuing with a dog trained to find bodies. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Cortez police are participating in the investigation.Cortez is about 250 miles southwest of Denver, in the Four Corners region.
