Edgewater Apartments Evacuated Over Suspected Drug Lab
Two People Taken Into Custody

EDGEWATER, Colo. -- About 50 people were evacuated from an Edgewater apartment building overnight due to the threat of explosion from a suspected drug lab.Residents of Dutchess Apartments, 5815 W. 24th Avenue, were moved to Jefferson High School across the street while officials searched the apartment building.The investigation began after a resident reported a strange odor. Firefighters couldn't find the source and called in the North Metro Hazmat Unit. The West Metro Drug Task Force was also called in to investigate.
Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the drug investigation.Residents were allowed back into their apartments at 5:40 a.m., after electrical power and gas was restored to the buildling. It had been cut off as a precaution.
