Dealership Closes; Car Buyers Could Be Out Thousands

Castle Pines Auto Sports Now Abandoned

UPDATED: 6:11 am MDT April 24, 2008

Thirty car owners are now in danger of losing the vehicles they paid for.

That's because the dealer they bought them from never paid for the cars in the first place.

Castle Pines Auto Sports in Castle Rock is now abandoned.

The high end dealership closed without notice.

Customers claim the dealership sold cars and never produced titles, failed to pay-off loans on trade-ins and sold extended warranties that didn't exist.

Police said the operator of the dealership, Wayne Weaver of Castle Rock, is being looked at as a "person of interest" in the case.

Weaver’s whereabouts are unknown.

Castle Rock Police said the investigation could lead to felony charges of theft, defrauding secured creditors and equity skimming of a vehicle.
