Northglenn Now On Mandatory Water Restrictions
Residents Can Water Only Two Days Per Week
You can now add Northglenn to the list of Front Range communities enacting mandatory water restrictions in light of the state's historic drought.
The City Council passed the mandatory order after voluntary conservation measures actually caused a jump in the city's water consumption, city officials said.
With the mandatory restrictions, Northglenn hopes to reduce water usage by 30 percent.
The emergency ordinance allows residents to water only two days a week. Even-numbered addresses are scheduled to water on Saturday and Tuesday and odd-numbered addresses are scheduled to water on Sunday and Wednesday.
Commercial properties, schools, multifamily apartments, HOA, and city park properties are allowed to water on Monday and Thursday.
All lawn watering is prohibited on Friday.
Residents are limited to three hours on their scheduled watering days. Lawns cannot be watered between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The first violation will be a warning letter. A $50 fine will be added to the water bill for the second violation, $100 for the third violation, and $200 and disconnection of service for the fourth violation.
