DENVER -- Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a young mother with child abuse after her infant son ingested methamphetamine.Katriece Trujillo, 28, is charged with one count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, a felony.The charges allege that Trujillo was caring for her 3-month-old son when he ingested the drug sometime on March 27 or 28, 2008.
Trujillo was arrested a few days later and remains in custody in the Denver County Jail. Her bond is set at $50,000.The infant was brought to Children's Hospital suffering from seizures. Doctors called police after they determined that the baby had ingested meth.According to court documents obtained by 7NEWS, Trujillo told police she had the drug next to the baby formula and mixed the formula and meth together.Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said officers did not find a meth lab in the couple's home.
