John Ramsey To Run For Office Again

Father Of Slain Beauty Queen To Run For Michigan House

John Ramsey again plans to run for the Michigan House.

Ramsey, father of slain child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, expects to seek a seat representing part of Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. The Charlevoix resident lost a similar bid in the 2004 Republican primary.

The seat again may be hotly contested because incumbent Republican Kevin Elsenheimer is leaving the House to run for the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Among the other candidates is Dennis Lennox, a Central Michigan University student who has gained attention for his clashes with the university over its hiring of Democrat Gary Peters to teach a political science class.

JonBenet Ramsey died in 1996 in Boulder. No one has been arrested in the murder.

John Ramsey's wife, Patsy, died in June 2006 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

For years, John and Patsy Ramsey were said to be under an "umbrella of suspicion" in the death of their daughter.

In 2006, a federal judge in Georgia and Boulder's then District Attorney said it appeared an unknown intruder may have killed JonBenet.
