Police said they found the cat's body in a nearby pond, reported the Daily Camera.

Investigators searched Vickers' home and found eight fully-grown marijuana plants and more smaller plants and seedlings.

Detectives also seized about 4 pounds of marijuana, said Sgt. Tim Lewis.

Vickers faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and felony animal cruelty.

He is in custody at the Boulder County Jail.
