DENVER -- Liquor stores are preparing for the possibility they’ll soon be open on Sundays, if Gov. Bill Ritter signs a bill repealing Colorado's "blue law."In Westminster, Total Beverage's managing partner, James Dean, has already hired one new employee in anticipation of the change, and he's planning to hire several more. He said the law would mean at least a 10 percent jump in revenue for him, millions in state tax revenue and more convenience for customers."I think it's a win-win all the way around," Dean said.
But opponents are concerned it will lead to an increase in drunk-driving accidents.Ritter has not said whether he will sign it into law, but once it hits his desk, he'll have 10 days to decide.Colorado would be the 35th state to repeal blue laws banning Sunday spirits sales.
