DENVER, Colo. -- A bill to help nursing moms continue breast-feeding after they go back to work passed in a senate committee Monday afternoon.HB 1276 requires businesses to give moms reasonable break times, paid or unpaid, and to make an effort to provide a private place to pump milk.Business groups fought a proposal two years ago that would have required two breaks a day and a private place.
This year's bill, however, faces no organized opposition, and breast-feeding advocates say it's a step in the right direction,"it's the best things for my baby, the best thing for my family, and it's important for employers to support you in your endeavors to pump because it is not easy," said Sara Miller, a breast-feeding mom from Denver. The bill now goes before the full senate. It has already passed in the house.
