Police Search For Suspected Boulder Rapist
Suspect Believed Still In The Metro Area

Boulder, Colo., Police are looking for a man suspected in a recent sexual assault at a local mobile home park.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Joel Aheler Chacon-Funez (pictured, left) charging him with sexual assault, criminal impersonation and forgery in connection with the alleged crime.
On July 6 a woman told police that she was selling magazines in the Boulder Meadows mobile home park when the suspect called her over and invited her into his mobile home. She said she was sexually assaulted by the suspect and ran to another home to call police.
Police used a search warrant to obtain evidence in the case and identified the suspect as Chacon-Funez. They said he has also used variations of his real name, including: Joel Chacon-Funez; Carlos Joel Chacon-Funez; Joel Funez; and Carlos Hernandez.
Police said that Chacon-Funez was working for a local roofing company that provided then with a copy of a resident alien card and Social Security card. An investigation revealed the cards were fakes. The suspect is believed to be a resident of Honduras.
Chacon-Funez has not been seen since the alleged incident and police said that he has left the Boulder area and may be hiding in the Denver area.
