ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. -- A large steel aircraft hangar collapsed at Centennial Airport just before noon Tuesday.Airtracker7 pilot Rich Westra was at the airport when it collapsed. He said it was a corporate hangar that was under construction.Firefighters on the scene said by radio that an initial search of the collapsed structure revealed that no one was trapped or injured. A fire department public information officer told 7NEWS that everyone had been accounted for.
The hangar belongs to TAC Air and was being built by CMC Construction Services.CMC Group said the hangar's "structural steel erection failed." The company said the incident is rare and unfortunate and they are working with subcontractors, consultants and government authorities to determine the cause of the incident."We will work with all appropriate parties involved and move forward to complete the new facility," the CMC Group said in a news release.The incident happened in the 7300 block of South Peoria Street.
