CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- A hearing has been postponed for a man suspected in the presumed death of his 6-year-old daughter, Aarone Thompson.Aaron Thompson was set to enter a plea Friday on a 60-count jury indictment against him, but a judge set a new hearing date of March 28 after prosecutors argued his defense attorneys had a conflict of interest.Thompson's attorneys represented at least five witnesses set to testify at his trial. Under attorney-client privileges, Thompson's attorneys wouldn't be able to obtain information from those witnesses.
Thompson could have waived any potential conflict and decided to keep his attorneys, but he declined to do so.Judge Mark Hannen is set to appoint new attorneys. Thompson's current attorneys plan to appeal.Among the counts Thompson faces from last year's indictment are fatal child abuse, conspiracy to commit fatal child abuse, false reporting and concealing a death. He reported his daughter missing in November 2005. After days of searching, police called off the investigation into the missing child and said it was a homicide case. Police zeroed-in on him and his girlfriend, Shely Lowe, as suspects.Lowe later died of a heart attack. Both told 7NEWS in an exclusive interview that they are not responsible for the death or disappearance of Aarone.Authorities have said they believe Aarone is dead but have not found her body.
