UPDATED: 6:20 p.m. MDT July 2, 2002

Authorities lifted all evacuations caused by the Missionary Ridge fire north of Durango today.

Residents of about 70 homes had remained evacuated because of the blaze, which is now more than 72,000 acres and is 50 percent contained.

Meanwhile, about 300 more firefighters arrived to help weary crews battling the stubborn blaze.

Crews are bracing for another day of hot, dry weather that could cause explosive conditions and dry lightning. About 1,900 firefighters are expected on the lines.

Suspected Looters Arrested

Three men are in custody today on suspicion they burglarized the homes of residents evacuated from wildfires in Durango.

The men were booked into the La Plata County Jail Monday. They were arrested after police received a tip from a woman who heard them bragging about the burglaries.

The suspects are: Christopher McCotter-Bohren, 20; Christopher Gebeau, 22; and Jacob Wagner, 18; all of Durango.

They are accused of stealing everything from computers and stereos to owl talons and a 1959 Barbie doll from ten homes evacuated by the Missionary Ridge and Valley fires.

One of the homes reportedly belongs to a sheriff's deputy. Investigators said that additional arrests are possible.

Hayman Fire Contained

Southwest of Denver, the Hayman fire was contained Tuesday after burning 137,000 acres. Firefighters finished the last stretches of containment lines around the largest fire in Colorado history.

Idaho Springs Fire Not A Threat

The Fountain Gulch fire, which erupted along Interstate 70 a mile northeast of Idaho Springs, remained at 175 acres. It's not threatening any structures and is burning away from the city.

The fire caused some traffic problems along Interstate 70 Monday, as motorists pulled over to watch the fire and firefighting efforts. The Colorado State Patrol was in the area to make sure traffic moves smoothly.
