A blaze being called the "Fountain Gulch Fire" near Idaho Springs has grown modestly from 40 acres Saturday to close to 60 acres Sunday morning but did not force any evacuations, according to fire officials.

FG Fire #1

The Fountain Gulch Fire was burning on a ridge line in Clear Creek County near Franklin Mine, about 2 miles northeast of Idaho Springs, according to Clear Creek County fire spokesman Jack Russalesi.

The blaze, pictured left, could easily spill over into Gilpin County, a county official told 7News on Saturday.

Contrary to reports, the Budweiser plant in Idaho Springs was not threatened and is not being used as the firefighter staging area, according to Russalesi.

No buildings or homes were threatened.

High winds and sweltering temperatures Saturday fanned the flames. While winds quieted overnight they are expected to pick up Sunday afternoon.

Sixty firefighters from multiple jurisdictions, including the U.S. Forest Service, are working the blaze, Russalesi said.
