Broomfield police are investigating how and why a Hobby Lobby store employee was found tied up in the craft store Wednesday morning before the shop was opened for the day.

Police were called to the store at 5105 W. 120th Avenue at 7:36 a.m., by a hang-up 911 call.

When they arrived they found a bound woman inside and the back door unlocked. The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. It is not known what injuries she suffered.

She was said to be alert and talking to investigators at the hospital.

"Yeah, it's really scary because we don't know what's going on," said Martha Smith, a Hobby Lobby employee who showed up for work but was kept outside with other employees before they were sent home for the day.

Police would not say if the employee was tied up as part of a store robbery.

The white Ford Expidition the woman drove to work in was towed from the parking lot so it could be examined by police for possible evidence.
