THORNTON, Colo. -- Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a married couple inside their condo that police believe may have started after a long dispute over parking and noise issues. Police found the bodies of Vera Marie Escobedo, 41, and her husband, Marco Antonio Escobedo, 44, Saturday night. An arrest warrant was issued for Lance Leroy McDermed, 36, of Thornton, in connection with the shooting, said police spokesman Matt Barnes.
Police consider McDermed to be armed and dangerous.Three witnesses, a man and two small children, were inside the house during the shooting and saw what happened, Barnes said. The husband answered the doorbell and was shot, and McDermed then allegedly shot the wife and fled, police said.Police could not say what specifically led to Saturday night's shooting, but neighbors told 7NEWS the Escobedo's and McDermed had an ongoing dispute over parking and noise issues."For something like this to happen is sad," said Seth Thomas, a neighbor. "If you are a neighbor, you've got to have common respect and work things out like an adult."In July 2007, McDermed went to the Escobedo's home and swore at Vera Escobedo. She called police and filed a harassment charge against him.McDermed is believed to be driving a maroon, four-door Chevy Cavalier with Colorado license plate 884-NWT.
