Feb. 10, 2008: Local Lawyer Produces Leaders

David Schott Volunteers With Schools' Mock Trial Programs

POSTED: 4:26 pm MST February 11, 2008

This week’s 7Everyday Hero is a local lawyer who volunteers to produce our next generation of leaders.

David Schott helps high schoolers develop self confidence by taking them to court. These students could be tomorrow's lawyers, or at the very least, the leaders of tomorrow. They are involved in their high school's Mock Trial program.

Mock Trial teaches students about the law and about critical thinking.

Schott volunteers to help Mock Trial programs at Both Regis Jesuit High School and at Lakewood's Bear Creek High. He’s a busy guy. He works full time, yet still finds time to volunteer four days a week at both high schools.

David also started a nonprofit called the Providence Foundation to help high school students take the law and leadership one step further. He has done this for more than three years, but his influence could last a lifetime.
