Two adults and a child were killed in a rollover accident on C-470 Sunday morning.

Police said James Jolly, 67, was driving west in a Jeep when he lost control just east of S. Santa Fe Drive because of some medical condition.

"He started feeling some medical issues coming on and felt like he was having tremors," said Lt. Mike Broadhead of the Littleton Police Department.

The Jeep left the roadway and when it re-entered the highway it sideswiped a minivan in a nearby lane.

The minivan lost control and rolled three or more times, police said.

"It was a pretty violent accident," said Sgt. Mike Eyman, with the Littleton Police Department.

Six people were inside the rolled van.

Two adults, Jessica Pety and Karin Jordaan, and 18-month-old Isaac Sward all died.

Pety is from Georgia and Jordaan is from South Africa.

Three other people, the driver Scott Sward, 29, Andrea Sward, 28, and Emily Liddiard, 24, were injured and are still in the hospital.

The Swards were all from Long Beach Calif.

The van was full of missionaries from Palmer Lake headed to hear a speaker at a church in the foothills, Broadhead said.

The missionaries were two weeks into a three-week mission course.

"They were getting ready for a mission trip overseas," said Eyman. "They were just driving down the road when this impact happened."

Police said Jolly was still in the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Anna Pintos, 61, was in the Jeep with Jolly. She was treated and released Sunday.

The highway was closed for close to seven hours. It reopened around 5 p.m.

It is not clear if Jolly will face charges in the crash.

Investigators plan to use software to reconstruct the crash to have a visual representation of what happened to aid in their investigation.
