LOVELAND, Colo. -- Police believe a series of small fires started inside a Loveland church was the work of vandals.

Several small fires were ignited in the Vineyard Church of the Rockies around 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

The vandals also painted the word Satan on a wall in the sanctuary.

Investigators collected evidence Sunday and hoped that surveillance cameras nearby captured the arsonists.

"We have no idea who did it," said Hans Breuer, executive pastor at Vineyard of the Rockies, a network of churches in Northern Colorado.

"Even if people did leave the church, I don't think any of our people would go to that extreme."

The extent of damage to the church has not been calculated.
