3 Killed In Louisville Crash Identified

Police: Car Traveling At Least 100 MPH At Impact

A car traveling more than 100 mph skidded out of control in Louisville early Friday morning and slammed into a light structure -- killing the three young adults on board.

The Boulder County Coroner identified the victims as Michael Martin Flaherty, 21; Amber Dawn Kowalski, 23; and Lucas Raymond Snyder, 21.

All are from Lafayette and were all identified by fingerprints.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m., but it wasn't discovered until another driver reported coming upon the wreckage about 20 minutes later, the Louisville Fire Department said.

Investigators said the Subaru Impreza was traveling northbound on McCaslin, going 101 and 109 mph, when the driver lost control and the vehicle slammed into a traffic light support structure at West Cherry Street.

The impact was so violent it ripped the car into pieces and scattered the wreckage across the several lanes.

All three victims were thrown from the vehicle upon impact. Body parts and pieces of the car were scattered; the car's engine flung across the intersection.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident but said speed appeared to have been a factor.

McCaslin was closed in both directions for six hours while officers investigated the incident and street crews cleared the wreckage from the intersection.
