School Activities Director Accused In Internet Sex Case
Randal Gomas Arrested By Colorado Springs Police
A teacher at a Colorado Springs K-12 charter school faces felony charges after police arrested him when he allegedly showed up to meet a 14-year-old who had sent him pornographic images of herself.The Colorado Springs Police Department said that Randal Albert Gomas, 45, was booked into the El Paso County Jail Thursday night for investigation of sexual exploitation of a child, enticement of a child, attempted sexual assault on a child without force, and Internet luring.Police identified him as a teacher at James Irwin Charter School but there was no listing for him on the school's Web site Friday. A personal Web page for Gomas listed him as the activities director at the high school.
Police said the investigation began when the mother of the 14-year-old contacted them after discovering that her daughter was sending sexually explicit photographs of herself over the Internet.The mother also found that her daughter was having sexually-related conversations with a number of men, according to police who began an investigation to identify the men.Police determined that one of the suspects lived in the area and had previously discussed meeting the 14-year-old. Police arranged a meeting and arrested Gomas when he allegedly showed up to meet the girl.A police investigation revealed that Gomas was allegedly communicating with the teenager on his home computer and school computer and that he allegedly received sexually-related images from the 14-year-old.Other suspects were identified in Minnesota, Alaska and Illinois the Colorado Springs Police have contacted authorities in those areas to help identify the men.
