UPDATED: 2:52 p.m. MDT June 6, 2002

An air tanker was called in Thursday afternoon for a small wildfire in Clear Creek County.

The fire was burning north of Fall River Road in an area called Trail Creek. A more precise location is east of North Springs Gulch, according to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office. That is northwest of Idaho Springs, Colo.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said that the fire was about 3 to 4 acres in size and was not threatening any homes.

Residents living in the area were advised of the nearby fire, and briefly evacuated, but were allowed to return after officials got more information on the fire.

Fall River Road is the only access in and out of the area where the fire is burning. The Interstate-70 exits to Fall River Road were closed by the Colorado Highway Department to allow emergency vehicle access.

Traffic on I-70 was not affected.
