Woman Rescued After Falling Through Ice

Woman Was Chasing Dog Who Ran Onto Lake

POSTED: 2:56 pm MST December 30, 2007
UPDATED: 5:07 pm MST December 30, 2007

A woman had to be pulled from Lake Loveland after she fell through the ice trying to get her dog.

Rescuers said the woman was walking her dog when it ran out onto the lake.

The woman chased after her dog and fell through the ice, police said.

When an ambulance arrived EMS was able to throw a rope to the woman and pull her out.

Police said the woman was in the water for only three to five minutes. She suffered no injuries.

The dog was rescued as well.

Nearby ice fishermen said the ice on the lake was thicker in certain areas and safe to walk on. The side the woman fell through, however, had thinner ice because it was exposed to more sunlight.
