The president of Am-Gard, Edward Boczar, has responded to the CALL7 Investigation with a letter to 7NEWS which says, in part,"Am-Gard is aware that your station is in the process of running an investigative series regarding how it conducts business in the state of Colorado." The letter does not deny the substance of any allegations made by present and former employees of Am-Gard who spoke with 7NEWS, but goes on to say, "Am-Gard is in the process of investigating all allegations contained in your station’s November 26, 2007 report. The letter continues, "All training of guards, (baton, CPR, line scan, range), is done by government approved, certified trainers and... all training done and provided by Am-Gard, pursuant to the contract with the government, is paid for by Am-Gard and at no time is the government billed for the cost of any training."
Mr. Boczar's letter also disputes the fact that a former employee was not properly trained and that lack of training lead to mistakes with regard to the LineScan X-ray machine, even though the federal arbitrator determined the employee was untrained and unjustly terminated.Am-Gard has been ordered to pay the former employee more than $55,000.For several weeks, 7NEWS has repeatedly asked for an on-camera interview with Am-Gard's top manager in Colorado, Patricia Larson, or the president of the company, Edward Boczar.Mr. Boczar continues to refuse an on-camera interview, stating in his letter that he will now, "...respond in writing to any and all appropriate questions that are submitted in writing."7NEWS continues to press for an on-camera interview to answer the serious security concerns.
