Teen Pleads Guilty In Lafayette Slaying

Bryan Grove To Get 40-Year Sentence

POSTED: 8:06 am MST November 15, 2007
UPDATED: 11:24 am MST November 15, 2007

The teenager charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of a Lafayette mother pleaded guilty Thursday morning to a lesser charge.

Bryan Grove, 18, of Boulder, was charged in the death of Linda Damm. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the slaying.

Grove will be sentenced to 40 years in prison at a hearing on Jan. 15, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.

The prison sentence is the same he would have received on the first-degree murder charge, but now he will be eligible for parole instead of having to serve the entire sentence, the newspaper reported.

Several previous court hearings had been postponed because attorneys on both sides were negotiating a plea bargain.

Linda Damm's decomposing body was found in her car at her Lafayette home on Feb. 28. Grove and Damm's daughter, Tess Damm, were charged with first-degree murder in the case for allegedly plotting the slaying.
