HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Some residents around Highlands Ranch are finding their tap water is colored, instead of clear.
The color can even stain clothes, 7NEWS reported.
"The water was like brownish yellow. I was afraid to drink the water," said Elizabeth Wager, Highlands Ranch resident.
But the people who check the water say it is safe.
"While it has an appearance to it that's not esthetically pleasing, it is safe to drink," said John Hendrick, Centennial Water District.
The yellowish color comes from certain minerals found in well water.
Hendrick said they will be bringing in more groundwater supplies than we have in the past that won't be discolored. Those supplies should be arriving this summer.
In the meantime, some customers may have to put up with the slightly discolored water, 7NEWS reported.
