DENVER -- Two shootings in Lower Downtown in two days have some neighbors and club-goers alarmed.Police are looking for a second gunman after a man was shot Monday night near 15th and Stout Streets in downtown Denver.Evidence markers littered the ground around an older-model Chrysler New Yorker or Ford Crown Victoria.
Denver police told 7NEWS the victim was shot as he sat in the car at about 10 p.m. He was hit in the stomach and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The location is six blocks from the corner where a gunman killed a man and wounded seven others outside the Hush nigtclub over the weekend.Inside the Ernest Fuller Fine Art gallery, Ernest Fuller has sold representational art at 15th and Market for seven years. "I like LoDo a lot," said Fuller. But he said he can't say the same for the bullet holes and the crude violence happening on the streets outside his gallery late at night."It just seems like, there's a never ending supply to the amount of liquor permits being issued," said Fuller.John Maslanik has lived downtown for 14 years and is the president of the Downtown Residents Organization. He said there is some concern among residents."Over a dozen people have asked to attend this particular board meeting," he said.Despite the violence, Denver police emphasized that they believe the two incidents are isolated. Police said downtown is still a very safe place to live, work and visit. In both cases, police are still searching for suspects.
