Passenger Killed In I-70 Rollover Crash
Aurora Arrest Made In Deadly Accident

AURORA, Colo. -- The man involved in a deadly accident Wednesday morning on Interstate 70 in Aurora is being charged with vehicular homicide.The Aurora police arrested 29-year-old Randell Springer immediately after he was released from the hospital where he was being treated for minor injuries he sustained from the rollover accident.Police identified Springer of Lakewood, Colo., as the driver of the 1998 Mazda pickup truck.
The accident happened at about 3 a.m. on westbound I-70 near the Chambers Road exit causing traffic backups for hours. Investigators said he was trying to merge onto I-225 from I-70 in a 1998 Mazda pickup when he lost control and hit a concrete barrier, causing the truck to flip.The woman in the pickup truck was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been released."It appears that alcohol and speed were both factors in this accident," a news release from the Colorado State Patrol stated.No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Police closed westbound lanes of I-70 at Chambers for several hours but it was reopened in time for the morning rush hour.
