DENVER -- Denver police stepped up security Saturday night for World Series Game 3, increasing foot patrols and DUI patrols in LoDo and around Coors Field.Police said they wouldn't tolerate any criminal mischief or rioting after the games, but they didn't expect it to be a problem. However, many downtown businesses and apartments beefed up security just in case, as an influx of people poured into the area.
Denver's Guardian Angels, a volunteer crime-fighting group, spent the evening walking around the stadium, watching for anything out of the ordinary."Our presence acts as a visual deterrent," said Nicholas Trammel, a Guardian Angel member. "People who might think about breaking into cars would think twice. People who might think about rioting think again when they see us around."Police also cracked down on scalpers, citing 13 people, and confiscating 18 tickets and $18,000.
