Judge Rules Probable Cause In Aarone Thompson Case

Judge Has Not Ruled Whether To Unseal Records

An Arapahoe county judge announced Friday that he has found sufficient probable cause to file charges against the father of missing Aarone Thompson.

The grand jury spent just a couple days short of a year reviewing evidence in Aarone's disappearance and returned a 60-count criminal indictment against her father, Aaron Thompson.

Today, the judge agreed with all 60 counts filed against Thompson.

Aarone was reported missing in November 2005 and has never been found.

The judge made no decision regarding a formal request to the court to unseal all the records in the case against Thompson.

The request was made by The Denver Post.

"This is a case of significant public import and the public has the right to know both the operations of the state prosecutors and of the judicial branch -- in handling any criminal matter but this one is of particular public interest and concern," said Steven Zansberg, an attorney for the Post.

Thompson told 7NEWS he is not responsible for the death or disappearance of his daughter.

On Friday, the court also scheduled another hearing for mid-December. At that time the court will deal with a variety of legal fillings by both sides and plan to set a date for Thompson's arraignment.

By all indications that will not likely happen until sometime in early 2008.
