Driver Killed In Collision With Beet Truck

POSTED: 12:04 pm MDT October 12, 2007

A Weld County woman died instantly when her car collided with a loaded sugar beet truck east of Lucerne, Colo., Friday morning.

The crash, at the intersection of Colo. 392 and Weld County Road 43, sent beets across the road after the truck rolled onto its side from the force of the impact.

The truck driver was not seriously injured.

Neither driver has been identified.

An eyewitness told the Greeley Tribune that the truck driver ran a stop sign at the intersection.

Willie Hagermeister, of Gill, Colo., said the woman in the car was dead when he got to her.

The intersection was closed for about two hours after the accident at 9:15 am.
