El Paso County Fire Controlled
No Structures Damaged

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A 64-acre fire in El Paso County was finally under control Monday afternoon.
The fire burned in the heavily wooded Black Forest in northern El Paso County, about 3 miles north of Colorado Springs.
It forced the evacuation of seven homes on Sunday, but no structures were damaged.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Hartman said everyone has returned home.
The blaze started at 3:20 p.m. on Pine Glen Drive, when riding lawn mower caught fire, Hartman said.
By 5 p.m., the fire expanded eastward to almost 40 acres and began moving toward homes to the south on Whispering Pine Trail. Homes in the area where evacuated as a precaution.
Approximately 100 firefighters from 10 local fire departments and three air tankers were used to fight the fire.
