CSP Car Rammed In Early-Morning Police Chase

WESMINSTER, Colo. -- A dramatic police chase through the north metro area ended with two people in custody Thursday after a Colorado State Patrol cruiser was rammed.The chase started on Highway 36 between Boulder an Denver at about 3:10 a.m. after a car failed to pull over for the CSP trooper.The Volkswagen Jetta was chased through at least five jurisdictions before it ended at 97th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard in Westminster at about 4 a.m.
At one point, law enforcement officers from CSP, Boulder County, Lafayette, Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster joined in the pursuit.Police said the driver of the car, identified as Christopher Beindorf, 27, tossed a semi-automatic handgun out of the car after the crash and he faces a variety of charges. The passenger in the car was being questioned.Beindort was being held for investigation of felony eluding, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, ,possession of a firearm while intoxicated, criminal mischief, criminal assault, no proof of insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, and violation of a protection order.The CSP trooper in the car that was rammed was not seriously injured.
