HENDERSON, Colo. -- An Arvada mother was arrested Thursday after she allegedly tried to kidnap her own child from school and attacked a teacher, Commerce City police said.Police said a teacher at Belle Creek Charter School noticed Paula Bock, 45, in the school around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.Records show Bock has a history of custody violations and teachers were well aware the woman had been limited to supervised visitation with her 8-year-old daughter, police said. Bock was walking towards a door with her daughter when a teacher told her stop and Bock ignored her, police said.
Police said when the teacher tried to stop Bock and remove the child, Bock hit the teacher and scratched her. Other teachers and staff stepped in to help.Officers later searched Bock's car and they said they found maps and a plan for how to get into the school and what to do afterwards.Bock is being held for investigation of second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault, child abuse, interference with school staff, violation of a custody order, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest.Meanwhile, Belle Creek Charter School officials said they are beefing up security, posting a teacher by the side doors and requiring parents to sign in at the main entrance.
