DENVER -- How does one flat rate for all your telephone service sound?

MCI is offering unlimited local and long distance calls and voice mail, caller ID and call waiting for just $59.99.

It's an offer that's hard to beat for the right people. If you make a lot of long distance phone calls, this rate could be a steal.

According to the Federal Communications Commission, the average consumer spends $35 a month on local phone service and $18 on long distance.

But if your phone bills average less than $50 a month, you could be spending more on this plan then you've budgeted before.

MCI launched its home phone service on Monday, joining the ranks of AT&T and Qwest for service in Colorado.
