DENVER -- First she was stripped of power. Now she's taking it all off.
Former Georgetown Mayor Koleen Brooks was in Chicago Wednesday posing for a pictorial spread on Playboy magazine's Web site.
If the story persists, the photos could
appear in the August issue of the magazine.
There's no word on how much she was paid for the shoot.
The former stripper-turned-politician posed for the men's magazine one day before she went to court on charges she faked an attack on herself.
Brooks faces criminal charges of tampering with evidence, a felony punishable by up to 18 months in prison and a fine of $100,000.
She is also charged with false reporting, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $750 fine.
She appeared for her arraignment Thursday and her attorney said he will ask for a change of venue next month.
Brooks was recalled by voters last week after less than a year in office.
She was investigated for allegedly ordering a hit on a police
officer, but the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said there was
insufficient evidence. Brooks also was accused of baring her
breasts in a local bar last October, a charge she denies.
Playboy photo editor Chad Doering said he first contacted Brooks
about posing when she was elected, but she declined. After she was
recalled, he called again and she accepted.
"She's a beautiful woman. We were interested in the political
dichotomy with what was acceptable for President Clinton versus
what was acceptable for her," he said.
Residents weren't surprised by news Brooks had posed for the
magazine.
"I find that very easy to believe," said Town Clerk Phyllis
Mehrer. "But I would have found Hustler easier to believe."
