Accident, Burning Vehicles Close NB 285

Crash Happened At Mouth Of Turkey Creek Canyon

UPDATED: 7:18 pm MDT July 10, 2007

The northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 285 were closed Tuesday morning after a multi-vehicle crash near Colorado Highway 8, at the mouth of Turkey Creek Canyon.

Several vehicles were involved and two of them burned as a result of the crash. It was not clear how many people were injured but a Flight For Life helicopter landed at the accident scene.

The incident occurred just after 9 a.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol.

It was expected that the northbound lanes of the highway would remain closed for several more hours while crews repair 150 feet of damaged guardrail.

Motorists heading north on 285 were advised to use Highway 8 through Morrison. Southbound traffic was not expected to be impacted by the closure.

All lanes were reopened by 4 p.m.
