The case of a Grand Junction woman, who has been missing since last week, took a bizarre turn late Sunday night when her car was found on fire.

Paige Birgfeld, 34, was last seen in a blue tube top and blue jeans, in her 2005 Ford Focus. She was reported missing on Thursday by family members after they hadn't heard from her for several days.

Firefighters were called to an industrial area in northwest Grand Junction about 10 p.m., where they found her car on fire. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was called in to help investigators as they sift through the gutted car for clues.

The location is about 2 miles from the woman's home.

A bloodhound was brought in to try and track any scents around the car to determine a direction of travel from the crime scene.

Birgfield also goes by the names Paige Dixon and Paige Beigler. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 110 pounds, and has sandy blond hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Mesa County Sheriff's Office at 970-244-3500.
