Denver police are looking for a driver who hit a 16-year-old boy on his skateboard while he was crossing a street last Thursday.

The hit-and-run happened at East Iliff and Colorado Boulevard around 6:46 p.m. after the driver ran a red light and hit the boy in the middle of the crosswalk. Denver police said the boy suffered a fractured skull from being hit.

Police said the boy was crossing the street on a pedestrian green light.

The vehicle was described as a newer model sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Blazer. Police said it was bright blue in color with a temporary license plate number in the rear-tinted window.

Witnesses told police that the driver stopped briefly after hitting the boy and then drove off on South Colorado Boulevard and then went east on East Evans Avenue.

Police said the SUV should have damage to the front end or possibly to the hood.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
